LEGISLATION WOULD AUTHORIZE ADVANCE DISASTER PAYMENTS

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and John Thune (R-S.D.) have introduced legislation that would authorize the Agriculture Department to make advance disaster payments to eligible farmers in the calendar year in which the disaster occurs. More>>


POLL SHOWS SUPPORT FOR ETHANOL

A survey by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research shows that 59 percent of the respondents favor ethanol with only 30 percent opposing it. According to an article in the Kenosha, Wis., Daily Kenoshan, support even crossed party lines with 63 percent of Democratic respondents and 58 percent of Republican respondents favoring an increase in ethanol use.
