Salter honored by Farm Bureau with Ag Ambassador Award

Jackson – The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation presented the Ag Ambassador Award to Sid Salter, Perspective Editor of the Clarion-Ledger in Jackson .

In presenting the award, Farm Bureau President David Waide called Salter a voice of reason. “In a world where the media often searches for the sensational, Mr. Salter is a sane voice that offers intellectual insight.”

Farm Bureau created the Ag Ambassador Award to recognize individuals who have gone beyond their normal range of activities in promoting Mississippi agriculture.

Salter serves on the Clarion-Ledger Editorial Board and is a member of the Mississippi Press Association Hall of Fame. A former Cook Chair in Journalism on the University of Mississippi faculty, he was named the 2004 National Alumnus of the Year at Mississippi State University .
